Hong Kong: In a recent judgment handed down on 13 August 2025, the Hong Kong District Court considered six employees' compensation claims brought by a secondary-school teacher (Mr Chan) against his employer and revisited the issue of whether psychiatric trauma, caused by words spoken between an employer and an employee, could be considered a "personal injury by accident" under section 5(1) of the Employees' Compensation Ordinance (Cap. 282) (ECO).
